I made the Moon Jump

Kenneth H Ashley

I climbed over the hill,
As she rose out of the sea:
I, in surprise, stretched wide my eyes;
And so did she.

I stopped dead, in my stride;
And I'll be sworn that she
Hung for a moment there, with one foot in the air,
Startled, like me.

She may ride calm and high;
She can't impose on me;
In spite of her fine airs, she starts, caught unawares,
Like you or me.
